LinkedIn

There is no LinkedIn connector, and one is not planned. That is a decision rather than a gap, so this page explains it instead of promising a date.

Why not

A LinkedIn profile is what a person wrote about themselves. It is composed, edited towards an audience, and rewarded for sounding a particular way. ~Alter infers who you are from how you actually turn up, not from how you describe yourself, so a surface built for self-description is the one input that would tell it least.

Reading it would also import the judgements already baked into it. Titles, tenure and the shape of a career page carry the assumptions of whoever handed them out. Those are exactly the proxies that make people illegible when they have taken an unusual route, which is the problem this is meant to solve rather than repeat.

What is read instead

The connectors that exist read manifestation: what you make, where you turn up, what you keep, what you have proven you hold. Taste, movement, community, curation and craft, each paired one at a time and each revocable.

See every connector, grouped by how each one proves you hold it.

If you want your work history known

Pair the places the work itself lives. A code host, a research identifier, a domain you publish on, a public profile you can put a one-time string into. Each of those proves something happened, which is a different claim from someone listing it.
